What does microdermabrasion involve?

Diamond Microdermabrasion involves mechanical exfoliation of epidermis using crystals to remove the outer layer of dead skin or damaged skin cells from the epidermis revealing healthy vibrant skin.

Steps

Microdermabrasion uses two parts, an exfoliating material like crystals or diamond flakes and a machine based suction to gently lift up the skin during exfoliation.
The exfoliation is gradual so it is safe and non-invasive. Minimal to no recovery time is required after microdermabrasion and most people immediately return to daily activity after a session. Makeup and non-irritating creams can usually be applied within a few hours or right after microdermabrasion. Since there is often immediate increased minor skin sensitivity after microdermabrasion, irritating products like glycolic acids, Alpha Hydroxy Acids, Retinoid products or fragranced creams and lotions should be typically avoided right after the procedure.

Benefits

After the procedure the skin is smoother, refreshed, and has more elasticity. By removing the keratinized layers of skin, skin care products are more easily penetrated into the skin thus making them more effective. Microdermabrasion may be performed to help diminish the appearance of superficial hyperpigmentation, and photo-damage, shallow acne scars as well as diminishes fine lines, wrinkles, acne, and is a highly effective anti-aging strategy. The superficial abrasion of the skin also triggers the body’s own natural repair mechanism which triggers the production of new collagen and releases glycosaminoglycan in order to rehydrate and replenish the skin. This has a remarkable softening action on surface lines and wrinkles. Microdermabrasion can also be used to treat sun-damaged skin and to improve acne but must be repeated periodically to be effective.

Post Treatment

It is important to be gentle with your skin for 24-48 hours post treatment and always remember to an SPF sunscreen.
